Pond Size and Flow Rates
The FilterTech 1000 is designed for a maximum flow rate of
1000gph (75 1/min). Therefore each unit is capable of treating
ponds up to 4000 gallons (1800 litres) dependent upon stocking
levels, feed rates etc.
At normal pond stocking rates this will mean one FilterTech
for each 2000 gallons (9000 litres) of pond water. For larger
ponds we recommend you install the required number of units in
parallel sharing bottom drain lines to 2 filter units if necessary.
Purity On Tap
The "HILUX" Series for enhanced contaminant removal
- For ponds larger than 4000 gallons
The high Performance "HILUX" Series is similar to
systems used by the BKKS for their National Show since 1992 and
by many other Sections and 1000s of Koi-keepers, both professional
and hobbyist throughout the UK. Designed exclusively for Purity
on Tap and subjected to thorough independent evaluation to provide
a spectrum of contaminant removal which other purifiers struggle
to match.
The series relies on the super-efficient "SHORT-TRAVEL"
carbons (5 times more efficient than granular carbon) and both
compact and very economical to operate, putting professional
levels of contaminant removal within the scope of the Koi enthusiast.
Performance: Up to 220,000 gallons @ 2gpm.
Intended to reduce average levels of Free Chlorine to the
accepted "safe" level for aquatic species and remove
a host of other contaminants. Including Pesticides, Insecticides,
VOCs and reduce Chloramine, THMs etc. and commonly encountered
levels of "Heavy Metals" and show a useful reduction
of Copper, Aluminium Sulphate and some Manganese at flows of
up to 5 gallons per minute.
Specification:
Fully factory-warranted. 2 X 10" Housings, holding 11.5
million sq.ft of "SHORT-TRAVEL" carbon, preceded, in
our "Clearview" housing to permit visual inspection
of incoming contaminants, by the absolute-rated "SEDEX"
Pre-Filter. The "effective life indicator" gauge monitors
carbon performance. Supplied as standard with 1" ports,
3*" couplings, *" hosetails and integral flow control
tap, for accurate setting. 15" high x 17" long and
7" deep).
Running costs: 0.41p per thousand gallons.
Purity On Tap
The- KP1 Purifier - with Enhanced "Metals" Removal
- For ponds up to 3000 gallons
First introduced in 1994, 1000s of these systems are now in
use all over the UK and perform outstandingly well for economy,
ease-of-use and contaminant removal.
Compact - measuring only 13" high x 14" long. Our "SHORT
TRAVEL" carbons are at least 5 times as effective as any
granular equivalent and will neither "channel" nor
"dump".
Performance:
Designed to reduce average levels of Free Chlorine to no more
than .003ppm (the "safe" level for aquatic life, and
remove Pesticides, Insecticides, VOCS, reduce Chloramine, THMs
etc. and minimise commonly encountered levels of "Heavy
Metals".
Specification:
Up to 20,000 UK gallons @ 1gpm.
2 x 10" pods housing a 10 micron nominal sediment/activated
carbon pre-filter followed by a "SHORT TRAVEL" carbon
giving 4 million sq. ft. of filtration.
Running Costs: £1.87p per thousand gallons
Hidro Clean Cartridge Filters
Hidro Clean mechanical cartridge filters offer pressurised,
pump-fed mechanical filtration to a partical size of 105 micron.
They are ideal for use as a pre-filter to pump-fed bio-filters
to remove solids before they are able to foul the biological
media.

Suitable for Koi Ponds
Hidro Clean Cartridge Filters are easy to use and maintain and
are ideal for use with Koi ponds, offering a more cost effective
and compact alternative to a sand filter. The Hidro Clean Filter
should be positioned after the pump and before the UV filter
(if fitted) and can be used as a "polishing" tool.
Hidro Clean Filters are suitable for flow rates of up to 40m3(sm
3) per hour but can be manifolded together if higher flow rates
are required.

Maintenance
Hidro Clean units are designed to be easy to maintain. Cleaning
the cartridge requires no special chemicals or tools. Settled
debris within the cartridge can be flushed out by installing
a drain valve (not supplied) to one or two of the outlets at
the base of the filter body. The cartridge itself can be cleaned
using a standard hose pipe. The cartridge is removed from the
filter body and the central cap unscrewed.
The cartridge can then be cleaned simply by applying water pressure
which causes the filter rings to turn on the central axis. Dirt
and other trapped debris is washed away quickly and easily. Optional
pressure gauges (not supplied) can be filtered to the inlet and
outlet ports of the filter to alow the operator to observe when
the cartridge needs to be cleaned.
